Kyrgyzstan can gain a lot of insight from their 2019 Asian Cup experience, even if it wasn’t the start they were expecting—they made it to the knockout round after losing their first two group games. However, their only hope of advancing would be to finish in third place, where four spots are up for grabs if they lose this weekend and Thailand wins or draws.

They are in their second tournament, but they are still having problems on defense; they have allowed multiple strikes in each of the three Asian Cup games. Kyrgyzstan has never lost an Asian Cup match where they have scored more than one goal in a single game during normal time, but they have lost every game when they have conceded the first goal.

Roberto Mancini’s squad took all three points and put Oman on the defensive after falling down 1-0 in the 14th minute due to a penalty.

The win broke the Green Falcons’ two-game losing and goalless drought in this event, extending their winning run to six games across all competitions. The Saudis are usually regarded as one of the favorites to win this event, although after reaching the final of every tournament from 1984 to 2000, they have not regularly progressed beyond the group stage.
