<p>Mohammed Shami has consistently produced strong performances for India’s ODI and Test squads and has been a continuous presence. The senior pacer has shown to be extremely trustworthy and ready to produce at any point of the game, whether it is with the new ball or in the dying overs.</p>
<p>India has been playing without Jasprit Bumrah for about eleven months, but now that the bowler is well and back in the mix, he will be the one sharing the new ball, but with whom? <p>Shami is not bothered about it.</p>
<p>Shami remarked on Star Sports, “Depending on whether I have the new ball or if the team needs me at any point throughout the match, I’m always on. “I’m not hesitant to bowl with either the new or the old ball. I don’t own such a large ego. We (Bumrah, Shami, and Siraj) all bowl extremely well, thus the decision of who will play is up to the management.</p>
<p>Shami disagrees with the notion that a bowler must modify while going from red-ball to white-ball cricket since, in his opinion, any ball placed in the proper spots would bother the batsman.</p>
<p>“There is just one goal: to go and offer our all. If we give our everything, the outcome will come racing to us. It’s a really straightforward approach, therefore it’s crucial to concentrate and carry it out. There is much too much discussion about the white ball or the red ball; if you bowl in the proper spots, I don’t believe either ball poses a challenge, stated Shami.</p>
<p>India will play Pakistan in the first match of the 2023 Asia Cup, and Shami feels the squad is prepared after a training camp in Alur last month.</p>
<p>“As we have drilled in training camp, there is always preparation for big games. We have the ability and the bowling lineup, so we don’t need to worry too much about the scenario, in my opinion. However, I must emphasize that whenever one-day matches are played, there must be concentration. So it’s important to stay focused and to plan well,” he remarked.</p>
<p>Mohammed Kaif, a former cricketer for India, believes that Shami would provide a strong test for Pakistan’s in-form skipper Babar Azam, who hit 151 in the tournament’s first match.</p>
<p>“Mohammed Shami is an excellent bowler, and his form is excellent as well. And even without Bumrah, he handled the bowling well. Even in the IPL, he had excellent form. Therefore, he is quite talented. Babar Azam would likely struggle to defeat Mohammed Shami, in my view,” Kaif added.</p>
